Sonja Wong Leaon
I am a collections and project management professional with over twenty years of experience stewarding cultural material across museums and private collections. With degrees in Architecture and in Visual Culture: Costume Studies, I bring a multidisciplinary perspective to the care and organization of diverse collections.
My expertise spans fine art, design objects, film and media artifacts, costumes, textiles, and archival materials. I have extensive experience with program development and project management within cultural heritage organizations including: developing collection, conservation and archives departments, leading large-scale collection moves and inventories, implementing preventive conservation strategies, and overseeing cross-functional teams in both exhibition and storage environments.
I currently support collections of all scales for a wide range of collections through customized collections care, documentation, and planning services. My clients include private collectors, corporate collections, archives, and artist estates.
I collaborate with professional appraisers on valuation projects and am pursuing certification from the American Society of Appraisers beginning Summer 2025.
